Fog as Dustbowl
the fog blows across deserted roads,
enveloping, then revealing grey shingled
houses, flocks of seagulls facing the sea
in the parking lot, immovable as statues,
like farmhouses in the 1930's dustbowls,
scarecrows facing the wind, weeping.
